Help Me Be An Adult

So I’m going away for six weeks. I have no idea how to handle this packing situation. Here’s the background: For the first month, I’ll be working in an office, so I need grownup clothes and shoes. After that it’s just regular tourism. I don’t have a full itinerary yet, but right now it looks like four weeks London, one week Copenhagen, one week Dublin and thereabouts.

Except for the last week when my gentleman friend and I are traveling together, I’ll be on my own and shlepping my own stuff. (That means tube/subway from the airports and not cabs in most situations.) I already have a nice roomy messenger bag that fits my laptop, so this would be all the stuff in addition to that. I also will probably do some shopping (Miss Selfridge’s, I have missed you) and am open to shipping some stuff home if I run out of space.

Here are my options. Tell me what to do, O Wise Internet.

1. One huge wheeled suitcase. This is the one I bought to take on my two month long post-college trip, and since then it’s been used for moves and nothing else. It’s huge, but it’s also heavy and might get me in trouble/cost me extra money for intra-Europe discount carrier flights.

2. Two normal sized wheeled suitcases. I might feel like kind of a dumbass with two suitcases, but it also might be more manageable if I could check one and carry on the other. This also might cause issues on those pesky cheap airlines, but I sort of think I’m fucked regardless and should just plan on paying more or flying someone other than Easyjet.

3. One normal size wheeled suitcase and one large non-wheeled suitcase. This provides about as much space as Option 1, but with possible shlepping issues. But the suitcase is brocade and I got it from the Tocca sample sale and it is really, really pretty.
